Het Amerikaanse onderzoeksbureau comScore heeft een onderzoek gehouden onder 1 miljoen internauten na de invoering van het nieuwe advertising systeem van Yahoo!. Het onderzoek wees uit dat de click-through rates waren gestegen met percentages tussen de 5 en 9%.

Finding Security Compatibility Issues in IE 7

The new Micro$oft incoming browser, IE 7, will be more secure. It requires WinXP sp2 (ie reserved to paying customers), and even the futur Microsoft windows (codename Vista) to get the full features set.

If they work as intended, those improved security features will break some websites. You can find security compativility issues in IE 7 with a Microsoft compatibility tool.

Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview is officially available for download at microsoft.com. No, not the leaked IE 7 version...

IE 7 will only run on Windows XP Service Pack 2 at first (then later on Windows Vista and others). As only registered Microsoft users can use Windows XP sp2, this means that only genuine windows users will be able to run IE 7.

IE 7 implements some features of Firefox, that are available since ages on non-IE browsers (tab browsing, pop-up blocking etc). But they tried to add a new one : Quick tab shows thumbnail view of all open tabs. Of course, if you're using Firefox 1.5, you can install the Viamatic foXpose Firefox Extension, which does the same :-)

Internet Explorer 7 (beta2) leaked

Some people get tired of waiting the incoming IE 7 or Windows Vista. One of them leaked a preview release of IE 7 (build 5299, labeled "beta 2 preview") on the Internet.

IE 7 has been published on Jcxp.net, which is not reachable right now. Perhaps Microsoft managed to close it down. Or perhaps is there a more simple explanation : the home page reads :

"Bandwidth Limit Exceeded.
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later."

IE 7 was apparently downloaded at least 12,000 times. With so many downloaders, curious computer users shouldnt have too many difficulties finding it.

Firefox dépasse les 20% en Europe

La progression de Firefox continue : la moyenne Européenne a dépassé les 20% d'utilisateurs, tandis que la Finlande frise déjà les 39%. La belgique est à 14.6%, et la France à 17.98%. C'est le résultat de la dernière étude Xiti, qui résume environ 32 millions de visites. A noter, les USA stagnent à 15.88%

Le nouveau Firefox 1.5 représente déjà 39% des utilisateurs Firefox.

Décidément, IE a du souci à se faire, s'il ne s'améliore pas rapidement dans sa nouvelle mouture (le futur IE 7.0).

Impressive Browser usage on Heise.de, a well-known (rather technical) german website.

Firefox reach 44%, while IE is only at 26.9%. If we add all gecko-based browsers like Mozilla and Netscape, we reach 50.1% !

It's time webmasters stops creating "IE-only" websites and really respect web standards and W3C Recommendations, or their website will loose many visitors.

Pourquoi les innovateurs du Web n'utilisent pas la technologie Microsoft

Certains entrepreneurs, comme Ross Mayfield de Socialtext, ne croient pas en l'approche du Web de Microsoft. On cite même une liste de 12 raisons pour lesquelles les entrepreneurs du 'Web 2.0' n'utilisent pas les produits Microsoft.

La question est posée : pourquoi les innovateurs du Web n'utilisent pas la technologie Microsoft?

Quelques pistes pour comprendre l'avènement de technologies comme Linux, Apache, PHP, MySQL, Firefox et les autres. Le web semble se rapprocher enfin des standards (W3C) qui ont permis son succès : HTML, CSS, XHTML, etc

L'avenir d'Internet Explorer selon des employés de Microsoft

Lassés des trous de sécurité de IE 6 qui permettent d'installer des adwares, spywares et autres virus, de plus en plus d'internautes abandonnent IE au profit d'alternatives comme Opera, Firefox, Safari, Konqueror et d'autres.

IE ne tourne et n'est supporté complètement que sous les versions récentes de Windows. Les utilisateurs de Mac, Linux et BSD ne peuvent donc l'utiliser. Le futur IE 7.0, lui, ne sera à l'aise que sous le prochain Windows, Vista, dont la sortie est prévue pour fin 2006. Avec peu de nouvelles fonctionnalités, contrairement à ce qu'offre aujourd'hui la concurrence. Mais qu'en pensent les employés de Microsoft ?

Microsoft: IE for Mac really dead

As announced, Microsoft completely kill IE for Mac and suggests one alternative : Safari. Curious they fail to mention Firefox...

IE will use the same rss icon than firefox

Microsoft is working with other browsers to release its Internet Explorer 7 browser in different areas (website identification agains phishing etc).

It seems IE 7 will use the same RSS icon than Firefox, according to Michael Affronti, Microsoft Outlook program manager.
