Yahoo lanceert Panama in Europe

Yahoo! gives up quest for search dominance

Without doubt, Google is the leading Search engine. Competitors like MSN and Yahoo! tried to catch up, but are left far behind.

It seems that Yahoo! gives up quest for search dominance. Yahoo Chief Financiel Officer Susan Decker said Yahoo! wont gain a lot of share from Google :

"It's not our goal to be No. 1 in Internet search. We would be very happy to maintain our market share."

After Yahoo! shares recently plunged by more than 13%, I'm not sure those statements will attract more investors.

Yahoo's shares plunged by more than 13 percent

More and more advertisers continue to shift spendings to the Internet, leading to higher revenues for search engines like Google and Yahoo.

Yahoo 4Q reports a robust financial growth, but the profit is not enough compared to extremely high expectations. So, the Yahoo shares plunged by more than 13 percent after the report's release Tuesday.

Some statements wont help : "Frankly, Google has done a better job than us," Yahoo Chairman RSS feeds is amazing. Bloglines recently served over 1 billion articles on january 5th!

So, it's understandable that major search engines became interested in that field. By example, Google launched Google blog search.

It seems Yahoo is acquiring the Search Fox RSS service, which will shut down on January 25th.

Yahoo! Widget engine

Last July, Yahoo! acquired Konfabulator. Mac OS X users, which are familiar with Apple Dashboard, appreciate those handy widgets.

Now, Yahoo! launches Yahoo! Widget engine, presented on a keynote featuring Tom Cruise. Even Wikipedia already has an (wikipedia) entry about Yahoo! Widget engine.

Source : S2M
