Incroyable : Google, Yahoo et MSN collaborent sur un projet commun !

Suite aux nombreuses demandes de webmasters et experts en référencement, les trois grands moteurs de recherche ont fait équipe pour mettre en place un protocole unique pour les Sitemaps.

Ensemble, ils ont lancé le site www.sitemaps.org qui donne tous les détails du protocole Sitemaps et présentera tous les futures mises à jour qui devraient suivre, puisque cette collaboration semble devoir se poursuivre. En proposant un protocole standard unique, les webmasters peuvent créer le répertoire d’URLs de leur site et signaler les changements aux moteurs de recherche. Cela devrait simplifier le processus de soumission de contenu et Meta données et d’un autre côté simplifier le fonctionnement des moteurs qui ne devront plus passer de temps à réindexer des pages qui n’ont pas changées et accélérer l’indexation de nouveau contenu. Les délais de mise à jour du contenu dans les moteurs de recherche devraient donc être nettement améliorés. Le protocole est ouvert à tous les webmasters qui souhaitent communiquer plus facilement avec les moteurs de recherche. Le processus est relativement simple et consiste à créer un uploader un fichier Sitemap en XML, pour ensuite en soumettre l’URL aux moteurs de recherche.

Last week, Microsoft enhanced its Windows Live (live.com) by adding a new Search service (Windows Live Search). Just look at the top of the page. If it works well, that new service could even replace MSN Search in a few months.

It's not a secret that MSN is far behind Google in the Search Engines market. So, Microsoft has decided to fight back. Only time will tell if they'll succeed...

As I stated in a previous post, search engines now offers prizes, in rewards programs, to their users. Mainly to deter them from using Google, by the way.

Not surprinsingly, MSN announced it's offering prizes to searchers too. But wait, there's more. It seems some hackers are already subverting the MSN price  attribution system, to maximize their chances to win!

It seems Microsoft is eating its own dog food : searches on Microsoft.com Search are now powered by MSN Search.

MSN Search new design and algorithmic update

If you go to MSN Search, you will discover the new design of the search engine. The blue background color has been changed to a light gray color. In addition, it seems that a new algorithmic update has been made at the same time.

Microsoft today announced the formation of Microsoft  Live Labs, a research partnership between MSN and Microsoft Research.

Microsoft Office Live is coming

After Windows live, (a web/mail aggregating webpage), Microsoft Office Live is coming. It's a new service for small businesses to "grow their business more easily by establishing a professional presence online."

The beta version of that service, that "will provide your company with its own domain name, Web site, and e-mail accounts for free". will first be opened to US residents only.

Microsoft: un "Search Ad System" pour juin 2006 ?

Il semble que Microsoft planifie la sortie d'un "Search Ad System" pour juin 2006, aux USA.

C'est en tout cas l'un produits que devrait sortir le Microsoft adLab récemment lancé.
